Caleta de Pescadores, Coquimbo; The best place to buy seafood.

I was a bit disappointed about the main fish market located in Coquimbo because it was very small and without a ridiculous number of products like I had seen in Valparaiso. Nonetheless, the price is very cheap. I am from Santiago and we cannot afford to eat seafood every week because it is expensive so I have been a regular client in this market.

You must go early in the morning, I was stuck in my car for almost two hours when I used the sea road and went to the market at 11.30 AM. But two day later, I got there in only 30 minutes from my home because we went out of our home at 9 AM.

I bought a half kilogram of shrimps in 4.000 CL and a half kilogram of clams for $3.500 CL. The quality of the products was perfect, but I always suggest to examine the seafood.

Moreover, you can buy seafood to eat immediately in individual portions for $1.000 CL. I ate like a pig with my girlfriend.

Obviously, the smell was bad, but it was part of the experience.

The biggest portion cost $1.500 CL

And finally, a few meters of the market you can get a ticket to sail around Coquimbo’s bay. I didn’t try, but I would be a good experience if you have some time to throw out.
